With more than 2,000 Inner Circle members, fielding every phone call is unmanageable. I don’t want to hire someone who does nothing all day but answer the phone and take messages, which isn’t necessary with this remarkable invention called email. And voice mail is not much good because messages are often mumbled and unintelligible.

I believe strongly in using technology (such as email) to leverage my time and to cut down on the need to have a big staff.  I sold my direct marketing agency in 1998 precisely because I no longer wanted to manage staff. 

One of the big keys to success is to automate as much of your business as possible.  If you feel you must talk with me by phone, no problem.  Just state the reason first in your email so I understand the subject before we talk.
